PITT STREET FARMERS
By Jim Hull
WE CAME OUT OF THE CITY
TO ENJOY THE FARMING LIFE
LOOKS EASY ON TV, CAN’T BE TOO HARD
MCLEOD’S DAUGHTERS DON’T HAVE MUCH STRIFE
OUR KELPIE DOG WAS CITY RAISED
WITH CATTLE SHE HASN’T A CLUE
SHE THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOODY BIG DOG
THE FIRST TIME SHE SAW A ROO
WE’VE GOT THESE BIG GREEN FROGS EVERYWHERE
AND THE MISSUS THINKS THEY’RE CUTE
BUT THEY’RE NOT SO CUTE AND SHINEY
WHEN YOU FIND ONE IN YOUR BOOT
AND THAT FLAMING NEW ELECTRIC FENCE
IT WONT OPERATE A LIGHT
BUT TOUCH IT WHEN YOU’VE GOT BAREFEET
JUST SHOWS YOU’RE NOT TOO BRIGHT
HOW TO PUT THE CATTLE IN A CRUSH ?
WE KNOW MORE ABOUT IT NOW
IT’S ONLY MEANT TO HOLD THE BEAST
YOU DON’T GET A SQUISHY COW
CITY SLICKERS OR PITT ST. FARMERS
OH BOY! WHAT A LEARNING CURVE
THEY WERN’T TALKING ABOUT TENNIS
WHEN THE BULL GAVE THE COW A SERVE
WE FOUND OUT HOW TO PULL A CALF
I CAN LAUGH ABOUT IT NOW
BUT IF YOU TOLD ME A FEW YEARS AGO
I’D HAVE MY HAND INSIDE A COW
CHECK IT OUT, A NEW BORN CALF
IT’S A GIRL – NO WAIT IT’S A BOY
WE HAD TO WAIT TILL IT WENT TO THE TOILET
TO SEE WHAT PART IT DEPLOYED
I SUPPOSE THE LOCALS HAVE A LAUGH
BUT WE LEARN AS WE GO ON
AND I WOULDN’T CHANGE THIS FARMING LIFE
TO GO BACK TO A CITY ONE
